LISBON – A jamboree for Elizabeth (Punky) Parmeter will be held Saturday, Jan. 20, at 1 p.m. at the Lisbon American Legion.

Admission is $8 per person (cost includes a meal). Children younger than 5 are admitted free. The New Buckskins and Pure Country will be playing, and there will also be a DJ. There will be a silent auction, 50/50 and additional raffles as well.

In August, Punky was diagnosed with acute autoimmune hepatitis A and cirrhosis (non-alcoholic) of the liver. She was admitted to Vermont Medical Center with acute liver failure on Sept. 30.

Since various treatments with medications failed she was told that she had 3 months to live.

After convincing her that the only option was to undergo a liver transplant, she was then transferred to the University of Maryland Medical Center on Oct. 25, which is the number one facility in the nation for donor and live donor transplant.

Once a full day of testing was complete, she was told that she would be put on the UNOS list to receive a liver transplant.

On Friday, Oct. 27, the Parmeter family was told that they had a liver that matched Elizabeth’s. On Saturday, Oct. 28, Punky under underwent a 5-hour surgery to receive her new liver.

Currently she is doing well and is on a road to recovery which will require rehab at a facility in Maryland.

Parmeter’s friends and family are holding a jamboree to help with the medical flight from Vermont to Maryland and any other medical costs that may occur.
