CANTON -- Celebrate the month of March with “In Like a Lion & Out Like a Lamb,” the March 9 Second Saturday Children’s Program at the St. Lawrence County Historical Association, 3 E. Main St.
The program, designed for kids ages four to 10, will begin at 11 a.m.
The proverb “March comes in like a lion, and goes out like a lamb” has been used for centuries. March begins with the constellation Leo the lion crossing toward its highest point in the sky at the beginning of the month and the constellation Aries the ram rising to its highest point toward the end of the month.
The proverb was often used by early settlers to mean that March often starts with unpleasant weather but ends with mild weather.
Children will discuss March and the proverb and make pom-pom lions and lambs.
