CANTON -- Terry Niles will present “Lincoln’s Funeral” at the next St. Lawrence County Historical Association Civil War Roundtable on Sunday, April 26, at 2 p.m. at the Silas Wright House, 3 East Main St.
The presentation will review the days that followed Lincoln’s assassination, and the way the nation mourned and paid tribute to this great leader.
This included one of the longest funerals in history, ending some 1700 miles west in Springfield, Illinois, the place Lincoln called home.
Niles, a local Lincoln expert and member of the North Country Civil War Roundtable, has previously presented on the Elections of 1860 and 1864, Gettysburg: July 1863, and Abraham Lincoln’s life.
