Lil Knights, Clarkson hockey teams to join forces for fundraiser in Potsdam

POTSDAM -- The Lil Knights Club will partner with the Clarkson University men’s and women’s hockey teams to help raise monetary donations for the Memorial Youth Project at upcoming Golden Knight games at Cheel Arena Jan. 31.

The Memorial Youth Project raises funds to award scholarships for youth who otherwise would not have the opportunity to participate in various activities, throughout the North Country community.

The Lil Knights will collect donations in the Cheel Campus Center lobby and inside the arena during the women’s game against Brown at 3 p.m. and at the men’s game against St. Lawrence, at 7 p.m.

Since its inception 10 years ago, The Dick Murphy/Dalton Guyette Memorial Youth Project has grown by leaps and bounds. Originating in Potsdam, the Project now has programs in Canton, Colton, Parishville, Norwood, St. Regis Falls and Madrid, and hopes to move throughout St. Lawrence County.

The project has awarded scholarships to an average of 140-150 children each year. In addition to sports scholarships which may include registration fees and equipment cost, the project has also awarded scholarships for Girls Scouts, AP classes, art lessons, academic activities and musical pursuits along with providing transportation.
