POTSDAM --The Local Living Venture along with Scott Shipley of Northern Lights Energy will present
"Let Solar Power Light Up Your Home or Business" on Thursday, Feb. 26, from 6:30 to 8 p.m.
The event will be held at the Potsdam Community Room in the Civic Center Complex, which is above the police station. Parking can be found in the lot on Main Street, next to the fire station. Enter through the Public Safety Complex doors next to the library; orange 'Workshop Site' signs will guide the way. Admission is free.
The session will share the benefits of net metering (or "grid-connected") solar power systems, including specifics on grants and low-interest loan incentives available.
Shipley will show participants how to have the convenience of the power grid at your disposal, but with the ability to feed into the system in a meaningful and environmentally friendly way. Participants will learn about the benefits of investing in solar power and how solar can be an excellent investment for a business or home and family, a press release said.
He will describe existing incentives, how they are changing and why its a good time to take advantage of them. There will be a focus on purchasing versus leasing and why a purchase is a often a better investment.
This discussion is geared primarily to on-grid homes but will touch on off-grid situations - if there is interest in the group. It will also cover the potential, using technologies available today, to generate all of a home's annual energy on-site, to create a 'net zero' energy space.
