CANTON -- The Occupational Health Clinical Center of the North Country is offering a free lead renovator certification course June 14 at the SUNY Canton CREST Center for Workforce Development.
This 8-hour initial certification course is required for any renovators, painters, landlords, or property managers without previous training to become a certified lead-safe contractor, which is necessary to work on pre-1978 housing, schools, or child-occupied facilities or rental units. The training is also recom-mended for homeowners who are completing renovations and code enforcement officials.
The training, a part of OHCC’s effort to reduce renovation-related lead expo-sure to workers and occupants of homes and public buildings, will be taught by Environmental Education Associates, and EPA-accredited organization. Lunch will be provided.
Registration is free online at: https://goo.gl/forms/AxxV4XqGAaORyrkF3 or by contacting Relani Prudhomme, Outreach and Education Coordinator for the Occupational Health Clinical Center of the North Country at (315) 744-0651 or prudhomr@upstate.edu.
Funding for this training comes from NYS Homes and Community Renewal and the Public Health Advocacy Institute.
The Occupational Health Clinical Center provided two free RRP trainings last December and is planning to offer an OSHA 10 for Construction training next month.
