NORWOOD – A two-day American Mower Racing Association points-race event is set for Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 5 and 6 at the Norwood Firemen’s Field on Morgan Street.
The lawn mower races will benefit Jim Grant of Norwood, a member of the National Joint Protection Board of Teamsters and the Potsdam Town Council and Recreation Board, who has been diagnosed with a brain stem glioma tumor.
The races start on Saturday at 4 p.m. and on Sunday at noon.
Admission is $5; kids 8 and under get in for free.
A Power Wheels race for kids will be held during intermission on Saturday.
Live music Saturday with Johnny Bubar, Special Ed and Friends, and more begins at 8 p.m
There will be raffles, silent auctions, autographs, souvenirs, dunk tank, beer, and wine slushies.
The Norwood Fire Department will be serving food both days.
Camping is available on site.
Grant’s treatments are continuing with specialists in Burlington and Boston, and the family can use help with expenses.
