The Laurentian Singers will perform their 17th Holiday Concert and Carol Sing “Peace, Love, Joy: Nowell, Navidad, Hanukkah” in Heuvelton on Dec. 2., and in Canton Dec. 3.

Gentleness and comfort will be the focus of this year’s program, which will feature several lullabies such as “Away in a Manger,” “Infant Holy” and “Rocking” as arranged by the late Sir David Willcocks. Other carols on the program include such traditional favorites as “Ding Dong!” “Merrily on High,” “Tomorrow Shall Be My Dancing Day,” “I Saw Three Ships” and “The Holly and the Ivy.”

Two Hanukkah songs, “Hine Ma Tov” (How pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together) and “Bidi Bom” round out the program.

The audience will be invited to sing along on such favorites as “God Rest You Merry,” “Silent Night” and “We Wish You a Merry Christmas.”

Guest artists Liamna Pestana and Daniel Yost on baroque guitars and percussion will take part in a special segment on early Latin American Christmas music. They hail from Cuba and Argentina, respectively, and have recently emigrated to the United States.

The Laurentian Singers will perform at 7 p.m. on Dec. 2 at Pickens Hall in Heuvelton and again at 4 p.m. on Dec. 3, in St. Lawrence University’s Gunnison Memorial Chapel.

Both concerts are free of charge and open to all. A free will donation will be accepted at Pickens Hall.
