POTSDAM -- Korean War Veterans will be honored with a dinner and a special thank you gift at 5 p.m. on Veterans Day, Nov. 11 at the Robert J. Freego Amvets Post 282, 6771 US Route 11 next to Hospice of SLV.
Veterans from the Korean War and their guests will be honored that evening, and given a special tribute and thank you for their service during the years 1950-1953.
That war, called a “conflict” at the time, saw 1,789,000 US veterans serve. It took 36,940 American lives and wounded 92,134. Missing in action were 8,176 brave American veterans, and 7,500 were taken as POWs. Many of those veterans live among us today in the North Country.
Korean War vets are cordially invited to Potsdam’s Post 282 to receive sincere appreciation for their service and to meet with fellow Korean War comrades.
RSVP by Nov. 4 to Commander Fay Sheldon at 315-528-9543 or 315-261-4764. Transportation will be provided if needed.
