POTSDAM -- A kickball tournament will be held Feb. 25 in memory of a well-liked 12-year-old Potsdam boy who was murdered last October.
The Garrett Phillips Memorial Co-ed Kickball Tournament will be hosted by his mother, Tandy Cyrus, along with Tonya Cyrus, Renee Seymour, Deb Thomas and John Jones at the Moose Lodge on Rt. 56.
The entry fee of $120 per team, plus funds from a silent auction, will all go to the Garrett Phillips Memorial Scholarship Fund at Potsdam Central School, to honor the young student.
Garrett Phillips was killed by an unknown assailant last October in the Market Street apartment he lived in with his mother. Police have not made an arrest.
Players age 18 and older have organized into 20 teams of 12 players.
The teams that have signed up have filled the tournament, but spectators are encouraged to attend.
For spectators, food will be available for purchase at the lodge, there will be a silent auction, and more.
Info: Renee Seymour, 244-6911.
