POTSDAM -- Looking for a unique and delicious variation of traditional red bean chili?

Then stop by the Potsdam Food Co-op between 3:30 and 5:30 p.m. March 2, pick up a recipe and sample vegetarian white bean chili, the featured recipe for Juanita’s 1st Thursday Creation with Juanita Babcock.

Seemingly familiar but delightfully different, this dish is brimming over with vitamin-laden vegetables, along with protein-rich quinoa and cannellini beans.

Utilizing cumin in lieu of chili powder gives a decidedly different flavor to this hearty meal. Best of all it is made with food items you probably already have on hand.

It's amazingly quick and easy to prepare when those wild, wintry winds require something steaming hot, filling, and delectable.

Try it with some crusty bread made in the Co-op’s own Carriage House Bakery and a green salad for a palate pleasing and stomach satisfying experience.

After sampling Juanita's creation you are invited to join Rose Rivezzi for Shopping with Rosie between 4:30 and 5:30 p.m.

She will give you a personalized tour of the Co-op where you can see how the bulk bins work or find out how to order through the Buying Club for deeper discounts. She loves talking about food and exploring recipe ideas and ways to use various Co-op products.

You can chat with staff or see the Bakery with its wood-fired oven.

The Potsdam Food Co-op & Carriage House Bakery and Deli is open daily from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. It is a member-owned cooperative grocery store (although membership is not required) where everyone is welcome to shop and anyone is welcome to join.
