RENSSELAER FALLS -- The Indian Creek Nature Center will dedicate and officially open the John Green Memorial Overlook and Shelter on Saturday, Nov. 8 at 1 p.m.
Dr. Green, who passed away in 2011, was one of the founding members of the Nature Center and a very active and longtime member of the board.
The covered overlook was constructed by ICNC board members and friends and is located on the eastern side of the property along the Lowland Trail adjacent to the Upper and Lower Lakes marsh.
It took approximately a year to construct, with all materials being carried in to the site by hand.
Construction costs came from memorial fund donations as well as gifts in kind.
The public is welcome and light refreshments will be available.
Allow approximately twenty minutes to get to the site from the main parking lot. If the weather is really bad then the rain/snow day will be on Sunday, Nov. 9 at 1 p.m.
A sign will be placed at the entrance gate to that effect.
