Jamboree for NNCS teacher recently diagnosed with cancer set for May 19 in Norfolk

NORFOLK -- Kickball and corn hole teams, walkers and runners are being sought for a jamboree to benefit Mandy Boyd, a Norwood-Norfolk Elementary School teacher recently diagnosed with cancer.

The jamboree, Sunday, May 19, will help with medical expenses in her treatment for synovial sarcoma.

The event starts with a Walk/Run A-Thon beginning and ending at the Dominic Zappia Arena, 9 Clinton St.

Race registration is from 8-8:45 a.m. and the start time at 9 a.m. The route is 1 mile; participants can decide on the number of laps they would like to do. Children under 12 must be with an adult.

Pledge sheets are available at the Norwood-Norfolk School offices or can be printed from the Facebook page “Stomp Out Sarcoma.”

A kickball tournament for ages 16 and older will start at 8:30 a.m. with co-ed teams of 8-15 players. Registration fee is $200 per team. Contact Mandy Reif: 315-244-1499 to register.

A corn hole contest will follow, with 2-person teams and $40 fee. Register by contacting Juddy Plumb: 315-250-4344.

Live music will be provided by Ben Todd & Family. Music will be also be provided by DJ Scott Boyer and DJ Justin Fisher.

Raffle baskets, 50/50 drawing and concessions will be among other events at the jamboree.
