CANTON -- There will be a jamboree for Canton resident Floyd Harris Saturday, March 24, at VFW Post 1231, 34 Gouverneur St., at 1 p.m.
Harris, who is a father of eight, a grandfather of one, with 3 more grandchildren on the way, has a serious, life-threatening condition called Status Epileptics. Status Epileptics is when a seizure lasts longer than 5 minutes, seizures occur close together and the person doesn't recover between seizures.
Harris is scheduled to have brain surgery in Boston to stop his seizures and rectify the problem. The surgery will take about 15 hours and Harris will be hospitalized in Boston for a month or more.
When Harris returns home, he will have to undergo rehabilitation locally for two months. Monies raised will assist with medical expenses.
Patrons will be asked to give a $10 donation at the door, which includes a spaghetti dinner complete with salad and rolls.
There will be 50/50’s, raffles, karaoke, as well as live music by Shawn Stoddard & The BackWater Blues Band.
