MASSENA -- For the first time, the Italian American clubs of Massena and Cornwall, Ontario, are co-hosting a fundraising event to benefit the Boys & Girls Club in their communities.

Tickets for the event are completely sold out, said a press release issued by the Boys & Girls Club of Massena.

As part of its 100th anniversary celebration, the Italian-American Civic Association of Massena, with the Italian Canadian Sport Club of Cornwall, will host a night of dinner and entertainment Saturday, June 17.

A gourmet Italian dinner will be served at the Massena Golf & Country Club starting at 5:30 with live jazz from the Dan Gagliardi Jazz Ensemble.

All proceeds from the event will be donated to the Boys & Girls Clubs in Massena and Cornwall.

“I am so thankful to the Italian-American Club and Tom Gramuglia for hosting this fundraiser for the Boys & Girls Club and including us in their 100-year anniversary celebration. We will be starting the new school year in our brand-new clubhouse with our full-time program and opening enrollment to all school-aged kids, so every penny will help. I am also excited about getting to know the Cornwall Club director and see what opportunities we create for joint-programming between our two Clubs,” stated Debra Donatto, Boys & Girls Club of Massena.

The menu will include: Italian appetizer plate, shrimp, tomato and olive bruschetta, Italian meats and cheeses, Tony's world champion clam chowder, penne pasta in a homemade marzano sauce, fresh garden salad, with balsamic vinaigrette. Dinner entrée choices include chicken marsala, beef tenderloin in a bourbon sauce or roasted leg of lamb in a dijon mustard sauce with small potatoes and green beans.

Italian deserts offered will include tiramisu cups, Italian cookies, creme de menthe parfaits, Italian creme cakes, lemon ricotta cookies, torrones and lemon raspberry parfaits.

Singer Walt Andrus, formerly of the Tommy Dorsey Orchestra, will join the Dan Gagliardi Jazz Ensemble for a performance, and Perry Canestrari, the Montreal Tenor, will perform Italian love songs.

There will be remarks and a presentation of donation checks to the club.
