OGDENSBURG — The Frederic Remington Art Museum continues its popular series of adult art classes with an “Introduction to Oil Painting” class on Thursday, Jan. 18, from 10 a.m. to noon.

Local artist Julie Pratt will teach fundamental skills like composition, brush work and brush styles, use of color, mediums, and more, guiding participants through the creation of a simple still life.

“If you’ve always wanted to try oil painting, but hesitated to make the leap on your own, this is a perfect opportunity to experiment in a fun and risk-free environment, under the guidance of a phenomenal teacher,” says Remington Museum education specialist Laura Desmond. “Intermediate painters, too, will find many valuable tips and techniques.”

The class will be taught at the Eva Caten Remington Education Center, 323 Washington Street, Ogdensburg.

All skill levels are welcome, and materials will be provided, though artists are welcome to bring their own materials. The cost of the class is $15 for members of the Remington Museum and $25 for non-members. The class is limited to 12 participants.
