Internationally known Buddhist Lama to visit Potsdam, Canton June 18, 19

POTSDAM – North Country residents will have the rare opportunity June 18 and 19 to hear the teachings of an internationally known Buddhist Lama dedicated to world peace and protection of the environment.

Venerable Lama Lhanang Rinpoche will give two talks in Potsdam and Canton, both focusing on the individual attaining peace.

He will speak on “World Peace through Inner Peace” from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., Friday, June 18, at the St. Lawrence County Arts Council, downtown Snell Hall, 41 Elm St., Potsdam.

And on Saturday, June 19, he will speak on “Creating Peace in Relationships” from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Yoga Loft, 107 ½ Main St., Canton.

While no one will be turned away due to lack of funds, a donation of $10 is gratefully accepted.

Lama Lhanang serves as the spiritual guide and visiting teacher for Wisdom Path Centers throughout the U.S., Mexico, Europe, Asia and Canada.

Born in Golok, Amdo, northeastern Tibet, Venerable Lama Lhanang Rinpoche is a spiritual teacher of the Nyingma Longchen Nying Thig Order of Tibetan Buddhism. He has studied with many great masters from different lineages of Tibetan Buddhism. The Sang Long Monastery in Eastern Tibet has recognized him as the reincarnation of Ken Rinpoche Damcho, an emanation of Nubchen Namke Nyingpo (one of the 25 disciples of Padmasambhava).

He is an accomplished instructor of meditation, Anu-yoga, art, feng-shui, cultural and historical studies as well as a skilled practitioner of Tibetan medicine. Lama Lhanang supports cultural education and artists and musicians and dancers around the world. He shares teachings from an unbroken lineage in a way that is fresh, cross-cultural, and current for these times.
