SOUTH COLTON – The annual Racquette Valley Fish and Game Club’s ice fishing derby is set for Feb. 18 from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The club says fishing as usual will be at Higley Flow State Park, but only at Stump Bay this year.
The entry fee is $15. Anglers can pre-register through 8 p.m. Feb. 17. That can be accomplished at Boyce’s General Store in South Colton or the Hannawa Falls Country Store. Registration is available the morning of the derby at the Club Hall on Coldbrook Drive from 5 to 9 a.m.
All DEC laws apply. Fish entered must remain at the weigh-in station until the end of the derby. Raffles and door prizes will be awarded to entrants only.
Prizes will be awarded after the end of the derby at 4 p.m. The prizes for northern pike and walleye are: first place, $100 and a trophy; second and third places, a prize and a trophy. The prizes for perch are a prize and a trophy for first, second and third places.
Food and refreshments will be sold at the club.
