Ice Breaker Party to be held prior to Seaway Polar Plunge in Winthrop Nov. 4

WINTHROP – A pre-plunge Ice Breaker Party will be held Friday evening in Winthrop, before Saturday’s Seaway Polar Plunge for Special Olympics New York in Massena.

The party is at the Pit Stop Pub, 637 State Rt 11C, Winthrop, Nov. 4 from 5 to 9 p.m.

There will be food and drink specials, a raffle with prizes that include $150 worth of items from Pampered Chef, Lia Sophia, Discovery Toys, Passion Parties, Madison Handbags, Pretties Bows, Avon, Mary Kay, Arbanna and elsewhere.

You can also pre-register for the Plunge and hand in your collected donations that evening.

Nearly 20 teams and more than 120 people from all over St. Lawrence County are already signed up for the third annual St. Lawrence Seaway Polar Plunge.

Last year, more than $20,000 was raised at this event, and with a significant increase in participants we are hoping to surpass last year’s total!

If you can’t take the cold, you can join the Chicken Coop, with a fundraising minimum of $50. Chickens receive preferred Plunge viewing, wings courtesy of PrimaBellas, and lots of fun and entertainment, Chickens can register online at www.tinyurl.com/StLawPlunge2011. .

The Plunge happens at Hawkins Point Visitors Center, 20 Hawkins Point Rd., Massena, Saturday, Nov. 5. Registration starts at 9 a.m., and the Plunge is at noon.

There will be live radio remote broadcasts, coffee and donuts, and raffles.
