CANTON -- The American Shakespeare Center will bring its “Hungry Hearts Tour” to St. Lawrence University starting Oct. 4 for several performances of “Romeo and Juliet” as well as “The Two Gentlemen of Verona” and “Our Town.”

Now in its 24th year at St. Lawrence, the residency will begin with “Romeo and Juliet” performed at 7 p.m. both Tuesday and Wednesday, Oct. 4 and 5, and again at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 7.

A one-time showing of “The Two Gentlemen of Verona” begins at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 8, and “Our Town” will be performed at 5:30 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 9.

All performances take place in Eben Holden and are free and open to all. Live music will begin 30 minutes before each show.

The American Shakespeare Center, based out of Virginia’s Shenandoah Valley, is home to the world’s only re-creation of Shakespeare’s indoor theatre. Opened in 2001, the Blackfriars Playhouse celebrated its 15th year of bringing authentic Shakespearian culture to America by exploring several educational and performance-based themes.
