Hundreds to graduate from St. Lawrence County high schools this weekend

Hundreds of seniors throughout St. Lawrence County will celebrate at graduations this weekend, the end of the 2014-15 school year.

A list of ceremonies follows:

Canton

Canton Central School will hold a graduation ceremony for its 85 graduating seniors on Friday, June 26, at St. Lawrence University’s Appleton Arena at 7 p.m.

Canton Central School recently named their academic top ten students for the class of 2015. The following students were named to the list: Grace Caldwell, Kathryn Fanning, Cody Moore, Cora Prudhomme (Jana), Laura Petry, Maria Ricalton, Morgan Rosser, Kegan Sovay, Audrey Thompson and Jennifer Wilcox.

Potsdam

Potsdam Central School will graduate 100 seniors on Friday, June 26, at 7 p.m. in Hosmer Hall at SUNY Potsdam.

Potsdam Central named Keith Bollt and Yoel Ben-Avraham as co-valedictorians for the Class of 2015. Keith has been accepted early decision into Cornell University’s College of Agriculture and Life Sciences. He will attend Cornell University in the fall.

Yoel plans to stay at Clarkson for at least another semester.

Potsdam Central announced that Gwyneth Heuser is their salutatorian for the Class of 2015. So far, Gwyneth has been accepted to University of Rochester, SUNY Genseo, SUNY Binghamton, and SUNY Albany.

Ogdensburg

One-hundred-and-two Ogdensburg Free Academy students will graduate at noon June 27 at Ogdensburg Free Academy.

Valedictorian Justin Andrew Ross and salutatorian Burke William James Comeau will give speeches. Class President Ashleigh Sovie will also address classmates.

Administrators Cynthia Tuttle, Pamela Luckie, Kevin Kendall, Timothy Vernsey and Anthony Bjork will present awards and scholarships.

Ron Johnson, school board president, will hand out diplomas.

Massena

Massena’s graduation is June 27 at 1 p.m. in the school gym.

Interim Superintendent of Schools William Flynn will make brief opening remarks.

Cristina David will introduce valedictorian Alanna Pyke and salutatorian Annika Sandvoss.

Norwood-Norfolk

Norwood-Norfolk Central School will host their graduation ceremony Saturday, June 27, at 7 p.m. in Hosmer Hall at SUNY Potsdam.

Alisabeth Furnace was named valedictorian of the Norwood Norfolk Central School District Class of 2015 with an average of 96.68.

Cheyne Voss was named salutatorian of the Norwood Norfolk Central School District class of 2015 with an average of 94.22.

Other students recognized for having an overall average of 90 or higher are Dion Aumell, Kirstin Barkley, Brandin Cousineau, Robert Fenton, Connor Fulk, Edona Hadzovic, Nevin Hardy, Michelle Harris, Ayanna Mason, McKenzie McCormick, and Morgan Simons.

Parishville-Hopkinton

Parishville-Hopkinton Central School (PHCS) students will graduate Saturday, June 27, at 11:30 a.m. in the auditorium.

PHCS anticipates a graduating class of 29 students.

The school announced Nicole White as their valedictorian and that Mary Coventry and Kayla Myers are co-salutatorians for this year’s graduating class.

Nicole is going to college undecided in a major, but is currently interested in journalism, geology, political science and pre-medicine. Nicole has decided to attend Notre Dame in the fall.

Mary plans on obtaining a Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing at either SUNY Binghamton or D’Youville College and is considering becoming a Nurse Practitioner.

Kayla will attend SUNY Canton in the fall and has been accepted via early decision into their nursing program.

Colton-Pierrepont

Colton-Pierrepont Central School’s Class of 2015, led by valedictorian Eve Whalen and salutatorian Alyssa Sta. Agueda, will get their diplomas on Friday, June 26 at 7 p.m. in the high school auditorium.

A total of 19 seniors are due to graduate.

Madrid-Waddington

Madrid-Waddington Central School will celebrate commencement at 7 p.m. June 26, in the John Dinneen Auditorium. A total of 45 students are expected to receive diplomas.

Diplomas, scholarships and awards will also be issued at the event. Mary E. Young, Anna Cassidy Scott, Austin P. Lanning, Jennifer Ann King, Sophia M. Roome,

Kirstin B. Liddell, Willow D. Van Patten, M. Furgison, Amelia A. Bailey and Dia M. MacKay will graduate with honors.

St. Lawrence Central

St. Lawrence Central will host their graduation on June 26 at 6 p.m. on the school’s west lawn, weather-permitting.

The valedictorian is Joel Truax and salutatorian is Kody Kocsis.

School officials anticipate 64 graduates.

Hermon-DeKalb

Graduation for seniors at Hermon DeKalb Central School will be at 7 p.m. Friday, June 26 in the school auditorium.

Diplomas will be handed out by members of the board of education. Awards will be presented by High School Principal Mark White.

Valedictorian is Brooke Tarner. Class salutatorian is Kelsi Shippee.

Lisbon

Lisbon Central School will honor its graduating class of 2014 6:30 p.m. June 26.

Katie Addison, Mikayla Deruchia, Donald Duprey, Alexandria Amo, Tristan Vine, Makayla Cruikshank, Ashley Livingston, Hunter Crary and TaShauna Schofell will graduate with honors.

School board president Lawrence Doyle will be presenting diplomas. Ashley Livingston, Katie Addison and Mikayla Deruchia, will give honor addresses.

Heuvelton

The Heuvelton Central School Class of 2015 graduation ceremony will take place on Friday, June 26 at 8 p.m. in the Poulton Auditorium.

Diplomas, awards and scholarships will also be issued at the ceremony.

Morristown

The Morristown Central School Class of 2014 will walk the stage June 27, at 7 p.m. in the school auditorium.

This year's valedictorian is James Richard. Salutatorian is Kaitlyn Wilson.

Twenty students are expected to receive diplomas.

Hammond

Hammond Central School will graduate 27 students on June 28 at 2 p.m. in the school gym. Speakers will include the valedictorian Lauren Workman and Salutatorian Casey Stewart.

Clifton-Fine

Clifton-Fine Central School will award diplomas to 25 students at ceremonies Saturday, June 27 at 11 a.m. in the school’s P.A. Miranda Auditorium.

Addressing students will be high school social studies teacher Scott Tower.

The is valedictorian Shania E. Muncil and salutatorian is Taylor M. Gearsbeck.

Edwards-Knox

Edwards-Knox Central anticipates giving diplomas to 38 students on June 27 at 7 p.m. in the high school gym. Their valedictorian is Darrick Cutway. Their salutatorian is Molly Burger, although school guidance secretary Dawn Finnerty said she graduated in August and is considered a 2015 graduate.

Gouverneur

Gouverneur High School will give diplomas to 98 students on June 26 at 7 p.m.
