Human rights activists to present 'Black Liberation and the Capitalist Roots of Racism' April 22 in Potsdam

POTSDAM -- International human rights activists Ream Kidane will present "Black Liberation and the Capitalist Roots of Racism," on Wednesday April 22, at 7 p.m. in Raymond Hall eighth floor.

Kidane is a long-time human rights and anti-racism activist living in

Rochester. In 2009, he went to the Gaza strip, as part of the Viva Palestina convoy/delegation.

He has been involved with campaigns to end the New Jim Crow,the death penalty, police brutality(Rochester's "Enough is Enough), labor solidarity protests, gender equality and LGBT protests and Occupy Rochester.

He has written and contributed to numerous articles including: “Police Brutality and the New Jim Crow,” “The New Jim Crow: Mass Incarceration in the Age of Colorblindness” and “From Malcolm X to the Black Panthers.”

The lecture will be followed by a Q&A session.
