POTSDAM – The Howl Story Slam will come to Potsdam for a session Friday, Sept. 14, from 7-9 p.m. at McDuff’s Pub, 59 Market St.
The event is hosted by The Howl Story SLAM, Adirondack Center for Writing and North Country Public Radio.
There is a $5 suggested donation for an admission. The event is open to the public.
Storytellers (you, your friends and anyone else with a story to tell) put their names in a hat. Names are picked, and one by one, storytellers take the stage and tell their best story in five minutes. A few judges from the audience are selected who score every story to pick The Howl Story Slam winners of the night. The first place winner will get an automatic invitation to the Grand Slam at the end of the year.
All stories have to be true and come from personal experience. No notes.
The theme for this season of Slams is “Leap of Faith/Going for It.”
Future sessions are scheduled for barVino in North Creek Sept. 21 at 7 p.m., Oct. 12 at 7 p.m. at the Raquette River Brewing Co. in Tupper Lake, and Nov. 8 at 7 p.m. at the Deer’s Head Inn in Elizabethtown.
The Howl Grand Story Slam will be held at Pendragon Theatre in Saranac Lake in December.
