OGDENSBURG -- Hospice and Palliative Care of St. Lawrence Valley’s fifth annual Tastes on the River will be held Sunday, April 22, starting at 11:30 a.m. at the Gran-View on the River.

The popular gourmet brunch, now in its 18th year, raises much needed funds to support Hospice programs provided in the community.

The cost to attend is $40 per ticket and all proceeds will help support Hospice patient services. Reservation times will begin at 11:30 a.m. and continue every 30 minutes until 2 p.m.

Making his first appearance as a guest chef for Tastes on the River is Michael Charlton of the Blind Pig Bistro who will prepare a port wine braised mini pork osso bucco served with parmigiano reggiano risotto, and exotic mushroom confit.

Chef Eric Armstrong of the Gran View will join the event for the third year. He will offer a re-think of a classic -- halibut fish and chips. It features a lightly dusted and seasoned halibut filet seared in olive oil paired with a zesty brussels sprout coleslaw and handmade rosemary and lemon chips, dressed in a malt vinegar reduction.

Also making his debut at Tastes on the River this year is Gran View chef Matt Mooney who will prepare a Maple Farms duck breast braised in brown butter and herbs served over a bed of mushroom infused quinoa and roast grain medley, paired with a cranberry orange chutney.

These entrees will be accompanied by specialty soups, salad, bread and desserts prepared by renowned area businesses and organizations.

The financial success of Tastes depends largely on the generous support of the chefs, their underwriters, dedicated volunteers and our diners, in combination with the generous backing of corporate sponsors, said a press release from Hospice.

To date, premier sponsors include NuMed for Children and Donaldson-Seymour Funeral Home.

Gold level sponsors of Hospice are Kinney Drugs Foundation, Frazer Computing, Phillips Memorial Home and SeaComm Federal Credit Union.

Sponsors at the bronze level are Save A Lot, Gouverneur Savings & Loan, Town & Country Veterinary Clinic and Frary Funeral Home & Cremation Services.

Event sponsors also include Scott’s Auto Center, Massena Savings & Loan, Johnston’s H20 Zone and Casella Waste Systems.

Businesses or individuals interested in sponsoring Tastes on the River can call Kellie Hitchman at 315-265-3105 or email her at khitchman@hospiceslv.org, for more information.

Reservations may be made by calling 315-265-3105 between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Monday-Friday.
