POTSDAM -- Hospice and Palliative Care of St. Lawrence Valley will broadcast its 8th Annual Radiothon on Thursday, Dec. 1.
In recognition of National Hospice Month in November, Hospice will also host a month-long campaign to raise awareness about hospice, palliative care and grief services.
Hugs for Hospice with Todd Truax of Mix 96.1FM will return as a featured monthly event based on the simple concept that a simple hug can have incredible benefits. Truax, along with Hospice staff and volunteers, will make stops at locations all across the North Country throughout November. Businesses interested in sponsoring an event location can contact todd@mymix961.com. All stops will be scheduled from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The Radiothon will feature interviews and testimonials from individuals who have personally experienced Hospice care in various manners, including friends and family members, healthcare providers, community members and volunteers.
“We have two goals for the Radiothon,” said event organizer Kellie Hitchman.
“One is to raise important funds to support the services our patients and their families receive and the second is to raise awareness about the nature of care Hospice provides and debunk myths about that care. This event is our best educational tool.”
Individuals interested in participating in the Radiothon and sharing their story may contact Kellie Hitchman at 265-3105 or khitchman@hospiceslv.org.
The Radiothon will air on WMSA/1340, WLFK/95.3, and WQTK 92.7.
Stations offering support of the Radiothon for Hospice also include WVLF 96.1, WNCQ 102.9, WYSX 96.7 and WSNN 99.3.
