HOPKINTON -- The town of Hopkinton Summerfest will take place July 19 to 21, with live entertainment, parade, talent contest, chicken barbeque and fireworks.
The festival will kick off with a talent contest at 7 p.m. Friday in the park, with cash prizes for the winners.
The parade will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday, running from Rt. 11 B to County Rt. 49. The lawn mower races will follow at noon behind Numed.
A “Hop-Kid-Ton Carnival” for kids under age 12 will run from noon to 5 p.m. Saturday at the park, with games and a big slide. The carnival will resume Sunday behind Numed from noon to 5 p.m. with a bounce house.
Saturdays live music will include the River Mohawks from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., North Country from 1:45 to 3:45 p.m., The Drifters from 4 to 6 p.m., Oshier Country from 6 to 8 p.m. and a block dance with Kickin’ Back Country from 8 p.m. to midnight.
Other Saturday events will include a chicken barbeque at the town hall, with the proceeds to benefit the Hopkinton-Fort Jackson Fire Department.
Sunday’s music will include Old Timers Band from noon to 2 p.m., Special Ed & Friends from 2:15 to 4:15 p.m., Kickin’ Kountry Cloggers from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. and Wendy Crump, DJ behind the fire station from 6:30 p.m. until the fireworks.
Other Sunday events will include a pancake and sausage breakfast at the town hall, with the proceeds to benefit the historical group, from 7:30 to 10:30 a.m.
Tractor pulls will begin at 9 a.m. Sunday, followed by an ecumenical service at 10 a.m.
The festival will wrap up at dusk Sunday night with fireworks.
Refreshments will be available, but bring a lawn chair.
