BRASHER FALLS – A Hometown Heroes Muskie Challenge, along with many other events open to the public, will take place Sept. 8 on the St. Regis River to benefit the Wounded Warriors and their Battle Buddies from Fort Drum.
Show time is at 6 a.m., with fishing starting at 7:30 a.m. Awards will be presented at 4 p.m. at the Riverview Restaurant.
Free activities for all ages will include a bouncy house and water slide from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., a kids’ fishing hole, miniature golf from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., face painting from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.; horse-drawn wagon rides from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.; wine tasting at Spririts of Downtown from 1 to 4 p.m. and a poker run starting at the Flat Rock Café at 1 p.m.; Fire and rescue demonstrations are also planned.
A Kick, Punt and Pass contest will take place at 6 p.m., followed by a youth exhibition football game at Tri-Town Arena.
Also planned are bands and a barbecue at the Riverview Restaurant Friday through Sunday Sept. 7 to 9 featuring Big Poppa and Escape Key, Backdraft, Sudden Impact, Outta the Blue Band and other groups.
