POTSDAM -- The North Country Children’s Museum (NCCM) will hold a fundraising event Friday evening, Dec. 1, from 6-7:30 p.m., at Maple Run Emporium in Potsdam.

The holiday shopping and sampling fundraiser will provide the opportunity for attendees to support the NCCM while celebrating the season. Admission is $15 per person with all ticket proceeds donated to the museum.

The NCCM is a non-profit organization formed in 2011 by a group of educators with a collective vision to create a cultural and educational center for North Country families.

The museum’s future home will be located on Raymond Street in downtown Potsdam.

Attendees at the NCCM holiday shopping and sampling fundraiser will enjoy the camaraderie of shopping in a festive environment featuring live music, refreshment/sampling stations, the opportunity to meet an award-winning artist, complimentary gift-wrapping, and a drawing for a holiday gift basket.

The host venue, Maple Run Emporium, is a specialty shop featuring gourmet foods, cookware, and an artisan gallery. The shop will provide maple delicacies and holiday hors d’oeuvres for the sampling stations as well as a holiday gift basket for the drawing.

Kaneb Orchards of Massena will provide a hard cider tasting. Attendees will enjoy sampling four varieties including award-winning St. Lawrence Cider, holiday favorite Cranberry Crisp, sparkling Raquette River, and still Grasse River.

Jan Close of Winthrop will be the evening’s artist-in-residence. The award-winning wood-turner will offer a number of never-before-seen pieces on display especially for the event. His work includes bowls, salt and pepper mills, objets d’art, and urns. Twenty percent of Jan’s sales during the evening will be donated to the NCCM.

Jane Lammers of Canton, a NCCM board member and a fine art photographer, will offer complimentary holiday gift wrapping for purchases made during the evening.

Crane School of Music performers directed by Marsha Baxter, music education department chair, will provide live music entertainment for the event.

Concluding the evening, the winner of the holiday gift basket drawing will be announced. The basket will include specialty maple gourmet foods and scents as well as children’s books about maple syrup.

Advance tickets are available for purchase from NCCM board members, at Maple Run Emporium, or by contacting Jane Lammers at 315-244-8100.
