COLTON -- The Town of Colton’s Summer Music Series continues Wednesday, Aug. 31 with The Hoax, a new group on the North Country scene, performing at 6:30p.m.
The performance will be held at the Gazebo behind the Museum on Main Street. The rain location is the Pavilion at Swift Field located off Sugar Bush Lane in South Colton.
The Hoax had its debut performance in Canton last August.
As the group’s spokesperson, Dan Sullivan-Catlin says, “the musical influences for The Hoax are varied, including the Beatles and the Allman Brothers as well as contemporary artists like Jack Johnson and Ryan Montbleau. You'll hear the sounds of rock and roll, Americana, the blues and reggae. The Hoax gives inspired twists to familiar songs and a fun groove for the band's original music.”
Sullivan-Catlin, who sings and plays guitar, bass, and percussion, is joined by Kevin Smith and Tom Baker who share lead and harmony duties. Baker also plays guitar and bass with Smith on guitar. The group is rounded out with Ted Ritzko on saxophone and Steve Manders on drums.
Audience members should bring chairs or blankets for seating. The Colt’s Pride Booster Club will have hot dogs, hamburgers and drinks available to purchase throughout the performance.
The performance is free to attend.
In addition to showcasing local performers the series also features visual arts. Barn quilts are being raffled to raise funds to help cover performer fees. A two-by-two foot barn quilt, valued at $100, featuring a card tricks design will be raffled.
The winning ticket will be announced at the end of the performance. Winners do not have to be present to win. Barn quilts are being displayed in the Colton Hepburn Library on Main Street where tickets can be purchased, 2 for $5. Tickets can be bought during the performance.
