CANTON -- The St. Lawrence County Historical Association at the Silas Wright House, 3 East Main St., will host workshops on caning chairs.

They will be held on three consecutive Wednesday evenings, March 2, 9, and 16 from 7-9 p.m.

Carl Stickney, instructor for the workshop, has decades of experience in chair caning.

Participants should bring a chair with the old caning removed.

Participants will likely be able to complete the caning of one chair during the course of the workshop.

The fee is $53 for historical association members and $63 for nonmembers.

Class size is limited.

Caning materials are included in the cost of the workshop; additional supplies to bring from home are: scissors, an awl, a paring knife, a few clothespins, a rag, and a small water container.
