CANTON - Join the St. Lawrence County Historical Association in July for historic walking tours of the Village of Canton and a guided tour of the SLCHA's museum.
Linda Casserly, Town and Village of Canton Historian, will lead walkers on a tour around downtown and provide the historic background for many of the structures which still stand today.
The walking tours will be held on Thursday, July 8 and Wednesday, July 28 (weather permitting), 6 p.m. to approximately 7:30 p.m.
The cost is $5 per person, ages 12 and up (under 12 free) with a maximum of 20 people per tour. Pre-registration for the tours is required. To register call the SLCHA at 386-8133 or e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org.
The tour group will assemble on the back porch of the St. Lawrence County Historical Association (the main entrance by the parking lot), 3 East Main St., at 5:45 p.m.
A fully guided tour of the St. Lawrence County Historical Association, including the historic Silas Wright House (former home of NYS's 14th Governor), current exhibits of Rushton canoes, 19th century quilts, and the French & Indian War, and a brief introduction to our public research room will be held on Saturday, July 10, 10 a.m. to approximately 11:30 a.m.
