COLTON -- The 13th Higley 100 Bike Tour will launch from Higley Flow State Park, 442 Cold Brook Dr., Saturday, Sept. 9.

Cyclists entering the 100 kilometer ride will roll out at 8:30 a.m. The 50 kilometer riders will depart the starting line at 10 a.m.

The tour is organized by the Friends of Higley Flow State Park, a not-for-profit organization formed to provide a higher level of public awareness, understanding and appreciation for Higley Flow State Park's natural resources and activities.

Each year the Friends of Higley Flow State Park organize a bike tour to raise awareness and funds to complete their projects to make Higley Park and sustainable and existing place to visit.

This year a barbecue will be served between 1 and 3:30 p.m.

The tour features all new courses this year. Riders will leave the park following mainly a mixture of rural town and county roads. The rides offer some of the best scenery in the area, say organizers. The area is primarily rural but does pass through several small towns.

The routes will be marked on the pavement. A sag wagon will sweep the courses. A water stop will be set up at a mid-point, and stores offer other refreshment stops.

Bicycle helmets required.

The $40 entry fee covers the cost of a Friends membership, barbecue, and maps. Maps can be picked up at the Lodge between 8 and 11 a.m.
