HEUVELTON -- The Heuvelton Lions Club will host several events in celebration of Labor Day, including a kid’s fishing derby, parade, car show, and lawn mower races.
Saturday, Aug. 31 will include a children’s fishing derby at 7:30 a.m. and an 8 a.m. run/walk. All kids must be accompanied by an adult.
The highlight Sunday will be a 1 p.m. parade on Main Street. The parade will feature a redneck theme, and all are invited to decorate a bike, tractor, or wagon and join the parade for the chance to win a prize.
A chicken barbeque will be held at the AmVets post at 1:30 p.m.
Sunday will also include food vendors, a bounce house, face painting, games, a baby contest, a nail pounding contest, cakewalk, crafters, and music at the boat launch.
A car show will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, with dash plaques to the first 50 entrants. The lawn mower races will follow at 3 p.m., along with a duck race, and the baby contest. The grand prize will be a sitting with photographer AshliMishel.
“Leo’s Auction” will be at 4:30 p.m. Sunday.
The festivities will wrap up Sunday with an attempt to build a giant sundae at 7 p.m. and fireworks at 9 p.m.
