HEUVELTON -- The Heuvelton Labor Day Festivities Committee will host a number of Labor Day weekend events featuring the theme "Who is YOUR Superhero?"

Friday, Sept 2

The New Buckskins perform at AMVETS Psst 1997, 107 State St., from 7 to 11 p.m. There is no cover charge.

Saturday, Sept. 3

Fun walk/run starting at 8 a.m. for walkers and 8:15 a.m. for runners at SunOpta, 26 Annette St. Registration will cost $10 and includes a shirt.

Kids Fishing Derby from 8 a.m. to noon at the Lisbon Street boat launch. Registration will open at 7:30 a.m. and is free for ages 3-16.

A baby contest for ages two and under will be held at St. Raphael's Parish Center, Justina Street, at 10 a.m.

The Remington II Canoe Race begins on West Front Street in Rensselaer Falls at 10 a.m. with registration opening at 9 a.m. The race will end in Heuvelton and costs $20 for non-members, $15 for members, $10 for military and $5 for youth.

Pickens Hall, 83 State St., will host a quilt show sponsored by the Heuvelton Free Library from 10 am to 5 p.m.

A duck race will be held at noon at the Flat Rocks near River Road.

Pickens Hall will host a quilt show with a $2 admission fee.

The Northern New York Association Lawn Mower Races, sponsored by the Heuvelton Volunteer Fire Department, will be held at 4 p.m. at Septic Raceway, Lisbon Street. The cost is $5.

American Fireworks will be held at dusk on Saturday.

Sunday, Sept. 4

A courtesy shuttle will run from Heuvelton Central School to and from the parade lineup field on State Highway 812 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The United Methodist Church, 31 Lisbon St., will hold an ice cream social benefit the church's food pantry from noon until the ice cream is gone. A magic show featuring Cubby T Clown will be at 2 p.m.

The "Who is YOUR Superhero?" themed parade will go down State Street beginning at 1 p.m. Parade lineup begins at noon and floats will be judged at 12:30 p.m.

Amvets Post 1997, 107 State. St., will host a post-parade chicken barbecue from 2 p.m. until the barbecue is gone. The cost is $9 for adults and $5 for children.

The American Racing Mowers Association Lawn Mower Races will be held at the Septic Raceway on Lisbon Street after the parade. The cost is $5.
