Heuvelton Labor Day celebration will bring races, music and fireworks to village

HEUVELTON – The community here will be hosting three-day Labor Day weekend festival featuring races, games historical displays, live music, food, fireworks and more.

The full schedule is as follows:

Friday, Sept. 1

7-11 p.m., Dance with Pure Country Band at the AMVETS Post 1997. No cover charge.

Saturday, Sept. 2

8 a.m., Kids fishing derby, registration will open a 7:30 a.m., and is free to children 12 and younger.

9 a.m., Heuvelton history doll display by Irene Ladouceur at Pickens Hall.

10 a.m., Baby contest for ages two and under, held at St. Raphael’s Parish Center, Justina Street.

10 a.m.-5 p.m., Quilt show held at Pickens Hall, 83 State St. Sponsored by Heuvelton Free Library.

Noon, Duck race at Flat Rocks, River Road. There will be door prizes for the children. Sponsored by St. Lawrence Federal Credit Union.

4 p.m., Northern NY lawn mower races at the boat launch area, Lisbon Street. Cost is $5. Sponsored by Heuvelton Volunteer Fire Department.

Dusk, American fireworks.

Sunday, Sept. 4

10 a.m.-3 p.m., Courtesy shuttle will run from Heuvelton Central School to and from the parade lineup field on State Highway 812.

11 a.m.-6 p.m., Seaway Valley Jumpers Jungle Bounce House and Obstacle Course (field behind Doug’s Tavern). Admission by donation.

11 a.m.-1 p.m., Ice cream social, and games. Cubby the Clown. Also, after the parade until ice cream is gone. At St. Raphael’s Church, Clinton Street. Sponsored by area churches to benefit the United Methodist Back Pack Program.

2 p.m.-until gone, Chicken barbecue at Heuvelton AMVETS Post 1997 $9.50 adults, and $5 children.

After the parade, Steel Drum Band will play across from the Presbyterian Church.

After the parade, American Racing Mowers Association Lawn Mower Races at the boat launch area. Cost $5. Sponsored by Heuvelton Volunteer Fire Department.

After the parade, Heuvelton history doll display by Irene Ladouceur at Pickens Hall, 83 State St.

3 p.m. and 5 p.m., Bwana Jim Wildlife Show at Pickens Hall – by donation. Sponsored by Northland Veterinary Service, Stewart’s, and Mort Backus and Sons.

4-6 p.m. A pirate show at Doug’s Tavern.
