Heuvelton Amvets 5K Nov. 12 will benefit Wounded Warriors

HEUVELTON -- Amvets Post 1997 will host a 5K Walk/Run to benefit Wounded Warrior Outdoor Adventures on Saturday, Nov. 12.

The U.S. Army’s 691st Combat Medical Unit, stationed in Afghanistan, will participate in the event at the same time on the other side of the globe. First Lt. Daisy Chambers, who is part of the unit, is Heuvelton Amvets member.

Registration for the Heuvelton event will open at 8:15 a.m., followed by walkers starting at 9 a.m. and runners shortly after.

The race will start and finish in the parking lot of the former McCadam Cheese Plant at the corner of Annette and Justina Streets.

Registration costs $15 and includes a t-shirt while supplies last.

An awards ceremony with coffee and donuts at the Amvets Post will follow the race.
