WADDINGTON -- The St. Lawrence County Cancer Services Program and River Run Fitness Center in Waddington are teaming up to provide a Health and Wellness Day to promote physical fitness and healthy lifestyles, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Nov. 3 at the old bowling alley at 17 Bowling Court.
An assortment of community partners will offer a variety of services.
St. Lawrence County Cancer Services Program will take enrollments for free breast and cervical cancer screenings for uninsured women age 40 to 64, and colorectal cancer screening for uninsured men and women age 50 to 64.
St. Lawrence Health Initiative hosts an “I Can Feel Better Community Workshop,” for people with conditions such as diabetes, arthritis, high blood pressure, heart disease, chronic pain, or anxiety.
The Initiative also presents “Access to Care,” prescription assistance for those who not able to afford their medication. Free health screenings such as blood sugar and cholesterol testing, BMI calculation, and blood pressure screening are offered.
The Community Health Advocates Program offers free one-on-one counseling about health insurance and access to health care, and assistance with insurance concerns whether people are privately insured, publicly insured or uninsured.
The River Run Fitness Center offers a tour of its state-of-the-art fitness center.
