CANTON — The Harvest Kitchen at the Extension Learning Farm, 2043 State Highway 68, is hosting a series of winter baking classes.
This modern teaching space is a great location to meet new people, build culinary skills and sample the results, said a press release from Cornell Cooperative Extension of St. Lawrence County.
The four-part December Baking Series: Sweet and Savory will feature a different technique every class with recipes from around the globe, the release said.
Participants can sign up for one or more of the following classes:
• Mastering Pie Crusts with Quiches and Galettes on Wednesday, Dec. 5, 6:30-8:30 p.m.
• No Knead Bread: Delicious and Hearty Loaves on Tuesday, Dec. 11, 12:30-2:30 p.m.
• Empanadas: Flavorful Hand Pies on Thursday, Dec. 13, 6:30-8:30 p.m.
• Baking with Filo Dough: Baklava and Spanikopita on Wednesday, Dec. 19, 6:30-8:30 p.m.
Class size is limited and pre-registration is required.
Each class is $20 and features hands-on opportunities, samples and printed recipes to take home.

Each class in this series is taught by a different instructor from Big Spoon Kitchen in Potsdam.
The ingredients have been donated by Nature's Storehouse in Canton.
