Hammond Fall Festival to feature 5k walk, live music, food, pumpkin painting, Oct. 5 and 6

HAMMOND -- The fifth annual Hammond Community Fall Festival will be held Friday, Oct. 5 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. and Oct. 6th from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The festival, sponsored by Hammond Presbyterian Church, will start with a potluck dinner Friday; admission is free and everyone is asked to bring a dish to pass. Beverages will be provided.

There will also be a dessert cook-off Friday evening. Those wishing to participate should bring a dessert. Awards will be given for 1st, 2nd, 3rd and People’s Choice.

Saturday will include the 2nd Annual 5K walk/run. Registration begins at 8 a.m. with the race starting at 9 a.m. T-Shirts will be given to the first 50 registered. The cost is $10.00 per person and water will be provided. All proceeds will be donated to the Aids Community Resources.

Saturday admission is $2 adults, $1 for children age 5 and up, children under 5 are free. Proceeds will be donated to the Hammond Food Pantry. Admission includes a hot dog, chili and beverage.

There will be live music, an inflatable jumper, food, local artist demonstrators, draft horse wagon rides, bake sale, mini horses, cider making, pumpkin painting, cake walks, all day raffles, Center Piece Making, Singing Crystal Bowls, and more.

Music will be provided by the “Rustic Riders” from 1 to 2:30 p.m. and “The Jack Kelley Little Big Band” from 3 to 4:30 p.m.

There will be a “The Beauty of Nature” photo contest. Bring photos for the contest to the church the week of Oct. 1st. Registration forms can be obtained by contacting Pastor Cathy at 324-5662.

All donations will benefit Soldier’s Angels & Adopt-a-Platoon, S.P.C.A, Hammond Food Pantry, St. Lawrence Valley Hospice, Habitat for Humanity, MINC: Ministry in the North Country, Church World Services and Aids Community Resources. Last year’s festival raised over $2,500.00.
