NORWOOD — Grateful Oars Rowing Club, Norwood Lake, will begin its 2017 season of its adult Learn to Row program with a free public open house and demonstration rowing.
The event takes place from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday, June 10, at Norwood Beach on Lakeshore Drive.
Meet club members, tour the boathouse, learn about rowing in a crew boat, and try rowing with experienced helpers. The event kicks off a summer-long program of rowing instruction.
Rowing is a full-body life sport that can be learned and enjoyed well into the older years, even at a competitive level.
RThe Grateful Oars club’s current members range in age from their 20’s to their 70’s. The minimum age to join is 14.
Club crews row at least weekly in two-, four-, and eight-person boats. The club has two single recreational shells for experienced members to row individually.
