CANTON -- The Grasse River Players will present Edgar Lee Masters' play "Spoon River Anthology" Feb. 13 and 14, at 7:30 p.m. in the Unitarian Universalist Church, 3 1/2 Main St..
In the play, Masters, an American poet (1869-1950), created a series of compelling free-verse monologues in which former citizens of a fictional Midwestern town speak from the grave of love and hope, disappointment and despair.
The production is directed by Carole Berard with musical direction by Barbara Burdick, and features special guests Barb Heller on guitar and Cody Witherell on banjo.
Eighteen local actors and actresses will be joined onstage by a ten-person choir, as well as by The Any Music Singers (TAMS), directed by Paul Siskind.
Tickets are $10 at the door.
