CANTON -- The Grasse River Players have announced open auditions for "The Tavern,” a melodrama mystery written by George M. Cohan, famed "Yankee Doodle Dandy" composer.
The local theater troupe will present the play during this year’s Canton Winterfest. The play will be directed Jim Wildman, Carole Berard, Elaine Kuracina.
A melodrama is a play with exaggerated acting. It is great for beginning actors and experienced thespians.
Backstage help also needed.
Ages 16 and older are welcome to audition or volunteer.
There will be musical interludes called "olios" where there can be a variety of music opportunities from country western to opera.
Auditions will be held at Canton's Unitarian Universalist Church Saturday, Dec. 9, at 2 p.m., and Sunday, Dec. 10 at 5:30 p.m.
For more information, call Carole Berard at the Canton library at 315-386-3712.
Copies of "The Tavern" will be available at the library.
