Grasse River Players' annual Melodrama Weekend at Edwards Opera House Friday and Saturday

EDWARDS -- The Grasse River Players present the annual Melodrama Weekend at The Edwards Opera House on Friday, Sept. 28 at 7:30 p.m. and Saturday, Sept. 29 at 2:30 p.m.

The local theater group will present a musical comedy, “Bushwacked.....Can The Damsel Be Saved?”

In the play, Vinni Venombreath and his medicine troupe visit Cow Pie Flats, with a French horn playing sheriff, a singing songtress hotel owner, a cadre of crazy medicine show characters, and a surprise ending. Will Vinni make a killing? Will he get the damsel?

The play will star Carole Berard, Jeannie Blake, Libby Brandt, Barbara Burdick, Tedra Cobb, Jennifer Freego, Krista Freego, Morgan Hastings, Esther Katz, Sara Sanger, Ansel Shipley, Scott Shipley, Michael Terrell, and Karen Wells.

Director and keyboardist is Elaine Kuracina. The audience participation comedy is suitable for the entire family.

Tickets are $6 for adults and $3 for children 12 and under. The opera house is on the second floor at 161 Main St.
