GOUVERNEUR -- The St. Lawrence County Fair will return Aug. 2 to 7 with rides, games and shows.
Festivities start July 30, with a horticulture show, with a demolition derby, harness races and a Charlie Daniels Band show in the following days.
There will be carnival rides, games and food every day.
• July 30 -- 8:30 a.m. 4-H youth building evaluator orientation; 9-11 a.m. 4-H youth building evaluations begin; 1-3 p.m. 4-H club displays may set up; 1:30 p.m. horitculture contest in dairy show ring
• Aug. 1 -- 9 a.m.-4 p.m. 4-H youth building open; 9:30 a.m. 4-H rabbit show in sheep barn; 10 a.m.-4 p.m. fair booths set up; 2 p.m. oxen demonstration in the horse ring
• Aug. 2 -- 9 a.m.-8 p.m. 4-H youth building open; 10 a.m. 4-H goat show in the sheep barn; 11 a.m. harness racing, free; 1 p.m. 4H and FFA dairy judging in the show ring and vegetable judging under the grandstand; 3-4 p.m. 4H dairy fitting contest; 5 p.m. 4H club booth judging; 5:30 p.m. 4-H table setting display and judging; 6:30-7:30 p.m. 4-H fashion show & mannequin modeling; 8 p.m. Charlie Daniels Band concert, gate opens at 6p.m., tickets $25-$30.
• Aug. 3, "Carlton Peck Band Day" -- Comedian Matt Episcopo on grounds; 9 a.m.-8 p.m. 4-H youth building open; 9 a.m. 4-H English horse show (horse ring) and open beef show (show ring); 10 a.m. 4-H dairy showmanship (show ring); noon flower show under grandstand; 1 p.m. local high school bands at grandstand, free; 1:30 p.m. 4-H open sheep show (sheep barn); 2 p.m. 4-H dog show (dairy show ring); 2 p.m. mannequin modeling (youth building); 7 p.m. firemen's parade, free
• Aug. 4 -- Comedian Matt Episcopo on grounds; 9 a.m.-8 p.m. 4-H youth building open; 9 a.m. 4-H western horse show & open mini show, 4-H open holstein, guerney and milking shorthorn show; 1 p.m. wool fleece judging; 2 p.m. mannequin modeling (youth building); 6:30 p.m. local talent show at grandstand, $5, free for under age 5
• Aug. 5 -- 9 a.m.-8 p.m. 4-H youth building open; 9 a.m. 4-H open Ayrshire, brown Swiss & Jersey show, gymkhana horse show; 11 a.m. mannequin modeling (youth building); noon flower show under grandstan; 2-5 p.m. public presentations in the youth building; 8 p.m. Glorious Sons concert, gate opens 6 p.m., tickets $10
• Aug. 6 -- 9 a.m.-6 p.m. 4-H youth building open; 9 a.m. black and white show (show ring); 10 a.m. open draft horse show (horse ring), 4-H cat show; 11 a.m. poultry fun day (sheep barn); 7 p.m. professional Tough Trucks, quad and UTV races, gate opens at 5 p.m., tickets $15 for adults, $10 under age 10
• Aug. 7 -- 10 a.m.-3 p.m. 4-H youth building open; 1 p.m. demolition derby, gate opens at 11 a.m., tickets $12 adults, $8 under age 10; 3-4 p.m. release of 4-H exhibits & animals
