PARISHVILLE -- A GofundMe campaign has been launched to help a Parishville-Hopkinton Central School graduate who has been hospitalized all summer in the intensive care unit (ICU) in Burlington, Vt. after being diagnosed with Gullian Barre syndrome (GBS).

Jamie Mitchell, 30, has been in a medical coma, received blood transfusions and received a permanent trachea tube. As of last Sunday, Jaime can communicate a little but the rest of her body cannot move, a statement on the GofundMe page says.

A family movie night fundraiser will also be held, Aug. 26, at 7:30 p.m. at the Parishville Firemen’s Field, Rutman Road. “Herbie Fully Loaded” will be screened. The cost is $5 per person or $20 for a family.

There will be “gold class” specials that include two large orders of popcorn and four sodas, special seating and VIP treatment. The cost is $30.

The silver class” special costs $25 for one large popcorn and four sodas.

All proceeds benefit Mitchell’s family.

The goal of raising $1,000 was reached within 24 hours, but donations will still be accepted toward bills for their family.

GBS is an autoimmune disease where the body’s immune system, attacks the nerves and causes muscle weakness, loss of reflexes, and numbness or tingling in your arms, legs, face, and other parts of your body.

Mitchell has two children.
