Glow Skincare and Spa to be honored at chamber dinner in Canton

CANTON – Glow Skincare and Spa, the 2017 Canton Chamber of Commerce Member of the Year, will be honored at the chamber’s annual Celebration Dinner on Feb. 8.

The event kicks off the Canton Winterfest and will be held at Eben Holden on the St. Lawrence University Campus. A social hour is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m., followed by the buffet at 7 and a program starting at 7:30 p.m.

The buffet menu includes marinated flank steak, hunter chicken, fingerling potatoes, quinoa stuffed green peppers, glazed baby carrots, fresh green garden salad, rolls, chocolate and lemon cakery cake, coffee and tea.

Chamber member businesses will have displays set up for the attendees and a silent auction will be held during the event.

Tickets are $40. Those wishing to attend should RSVP the chamber by Feb. 2 at Canton Chamber of Commerce, PO Box 369, Canton 13617.

Glow Skincare and Spa, 75 Main St., was selected by a committee of chamber board members, and cited for its hurricane relief effort for the city of Houston, Texas, after Hurricane Harvey hit the gulf coast earlier this year, said Bauer.

Owner Carmen Gendebien and her husband Blake credited their customers who donated items for Gary Hammond and Tai Alberto, a Clarkson MBA student, to deliver relief items to Houston, said Bauer.

Glow Skincare is a high-end day spa featuring skin care, spray tanning, teeth whitening and Botox treatments which opened in spring of 2011 in the former Plaindealer building. The spa offers offer a full array of facials, body treatments, peels, microdermabrasion, back facials, manicures, pedicures and waxing.

Glow Skincare was also cited for being a recipient of the NY Small Business Development Center Award in May 2017 and involvement in Women’s Business Bootcamp at SUNY Canton.

The Gendebiens were also credited for co-founding the Jules of Life Foundation, a local charity that supports families with children diagnosed with pediatric cancer.
