POTSDAM -- Clarkson University’s Horizons Program and the St. Lawrence County Branch of AAUW are sponsoring a showing of the documentary “Girl Rising” March 8 in Bertram H. Snell Atrium from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on the hill campus.

From Academy Award-nominated director Richard E. Robbins, Girl Rising journeys around the globe to witness the strength of the human spirit and the power of education to change the world.

Viewers get to know nine girls living in the developing world: ordinary girls who confront challenges and overcome nearly impossible odds to pursue their dreams. Prize-winning authors put the stories into words, and renowned actors give them voice.

This is part of a day-long series of events that the Horizons Program at Clarkson University is hosting for International Women's Day (IWD) on March 8. In particular, any Horizons alumnae and prospective Horizons 2017 candidates are invites to participate in the skill building activities, interviews, and the Girl Rising screening.

The Horizons Program is intended to help young women embrace the excitement of Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts and Mathematics (STEAM), and to better understand and communicate its everyday use and importance. For more information, contact Melissa Richards, Horizons Program Director, at horizons@clarkson.edu or phone 315-268-4128

Refreshments will be provided. All events are free. Anyone interested in attending can RSVP at https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSdF_XSgsqcCGzFdiiB9NUSWEVUFQY6pdDhEzLkpMbYKvUUwyQ/viewform?c=0&w=1.
