Games, art, build-a-bear, Harry Potter wands at Kids Expo event

CANTON – Kids can play games, create Harry Potter wands, enjoy face painting, build a stuffed bear, participate in art projects, and more at the 2nd annual Kids Expo.

The event runs from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Mar. 16 at the SUNY Canton Roos House.

After entering the college entrance on Route 68, keep left and drive past the campus until you reach Parking Lot 4.

Entrance is free for all kids age 12 and under, thanks to North Country Savings Bank. Admission for all others is $5.

Here is what families can expect:

• 4-H Camp Overlook: Kids can create a “summer camp postcard” using beautiful dried flowers, leaves, clovers and colored pencils. Kids and parents can learn more about their summer camp program and sign up!

• Clarkson University: Four activities will be offered: Oil Spill Cleanup -- students “spill” oil from a boat into a tub of water and work through ways to clean it up while talking about environmental impact; SkiMan Challenge -- students design and create a person out of aluminum foil that then has to ski down a jump; Harry Potter Wands -- students create a circuit with batteries and a light in wand form to discuss how currents and circuits work; Spaghetti Engineering Challenge -- students must design and build a tower to support a marshmallow out of spaghetti and other materials

• Cubby T. Clown & Co., face painting

• Fidelis Care: Dino Toss game for children to play and win a prize.

• ‘EmBears: Children can build a stuffed bear.

• IYQ Balloon Décor, balloon animals

• Deep Root Center: Array of art supplies available, as well as a few ideas, for kids to create art and craft projects.

• Nola’s General Store: “Build an Enchanted Garden Exhibit,” kids can get creative using their imagination while designing a project to take home. Design themes will include Butterflies, Horses, Dinosaurs, Flowers and more. Supplies and tools will be provided.

• The Arc Jefferson – St. Lawrence: We will be running a Plinko game for kids.

• St. Lawrence Child Care Council, information about quality child care, children’s health & safety issues and child development.

• Grasse River Outfitters: Discover an exploratory campsite.

• Claxton-Hepburn Medical Center: Photo booth and coloring contest

• St. Lawrence Health System: Coloring station with puppets

• Mix 96.1: Live remote radio broadcast.

• North Country Baby Blessings: Baby clothing and other items for sale.

• St. Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office: Creating Safe ID’s for children
