POTSDAM -- Elementary students can learn about fungi and hear stories at two Oct. 4 events at the Potsdam Public Library.

"Fantastic Fungi" is for grades 2 to 4 on Oct. 4 from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. Claire Burkum will lead the group in lessons and experiments. The event will be outdoors, weather-permitting. The library says those participating may get a little bit dirty, so students shouldn't wear their best clothes.

Registration: ssachs@potsdamlibrary.org .

From 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., members of the Kappa Delta Chi sorority will read stories for grades kindergarten through 3. Each will be followed by a craft activity that ties in with each story's moral.

"Chicka Chicka Boom Boom" will be read from 9 to 10 a.m.

"The Very Hungry Caterpillar" from 10 to 11 a.m.

"Pete the Cat and the New Guy" from 11 a.m. to noon

"The Rainbow Fish" from noon to 1 p.m.

"The Lorax" from 1 to 2 p.m.
