SOUTH HAMMOND -- Frogwork, a consort of four viola de gambas, and vocalist Kate Raykov will perform Aug. 25 at the Iva Smith Memorial Gallery of Fine Art.

The gallery is the summer home to the artwork of Robert Paul Saphier.

The public is invited to an evening of fine art and Baroque music, food and friendship. Alexander Raykov, Raykov and friends will be interpreting the music of late 16th Century composer William Byrd.

The luminescent paintings and drawings of Saphier created in the region and realized in egg tempera, pencil and pastel, gouache and watercolor, will also be on display in the barn gallery.

The event starts at 5 p.m. with a pot luck supper. Those attending are asked to bring a lawn chair and a dish to pass.

At 6:30 p.m., the concert with period instruments begins. The evening will close with a drawing for a free print by Saphier.

The gallery is at 627 NYS Hwy. 37, 7.7 miles north of Knorrs in Redwood and 4.3 miles south of the Hammond flashing light.

For more information, contact Evelyn Saphier at 324-6150 or 347-515-5126 or enpsaphier@gmail.com.
